Yummy Farm Fresh Chicken is Back Y'all!

chicken-collage.jpg

That's right, chicken is available again! The Esh's are a small farm so we do need to be patient as they restock. Our glorious superwoman/orders coordinator Andi put it perfectly in her email earlier this week.

"As the Esh's replenish stock let's be mindful of all of you, their customers, whom they are providing these nutrient-dense foods for! So, as they prepare and package your chicken, please note, that they are not a factory farm (thank goodness!), which means, to keep up with your menus and meal plans that include yummy chicken dishes, the chicken is now available with a limit per order (2). You'll be able to get something in the chicken department every week without overwhelming the small Amish farm AND still keep the poultry in stock! So, that's per chicken item - as you'll see on the website (not total chicken)."

Need some chicken inspiration? Check out these 25 Quick Keto Chicken Recipes. I took a scroll through the recipes and they all look really good!

One of my newest and most favorite things is a good homemade marinade. I recently created one that goes well on poultry, fish, beef, and vegetables. It's a big hit with my family and I recently made it for my parents who absolutely loved it. Here's the recipe!

Jaime's All-Purpose Marinade

  • 2 tomatoes
  • 1 onion, red or yellow
  • 1 jalapeño, seeded
  • 2 green onions/scallions
  • 2-3 large cloves of garlic
  • 2 limes, juiced
  • ¼ cup rice wine vinegar
  • ¼ cup sesame oil (grapeseed, avocado, or olive oil will work too)
  • 2 Tbsp keto taco seasoning
  • 1 Tbsp TajÍn Clásico Seasoning
  1. Roughly chop tomatoes, onion, jalapeño, green onions, and garlic. Place in a food processor or blender. Add lime juice, rice wine vinegar, sesame oil, taco seasoning, and TajÍn. Blend until smooth. Pour into a mason jar and keep refrigerated up to one week.

Produce Updates

Elizabeth and Jonas have been enjoying all of your produce orders, so keep them coming! Although the season was short, the strawberries were sweet and delicious this year. Some were asking for rhubarb but unfortunately, it did not turn out nice this year due to the late frosts and cool spring they had.

The store is updated with the latest farm-fresh produce in stock, so be sure to take a peek and throw some of that wonderful nutritional goodness into your cart!

So Long Summer

September... The time of year when the nights begin to get cooler and the breezes lighter. Insects seem less pesky and the world a bit quieter. But work on the farm keeps going and it has been quite a blessing to have so much to do and provide for the Green Hills Farm loyal customers.

Brilliant Splendor of Days on the Farm

Love is in the air... and so is rain! Barbie shares with us the love and grace that the Lord has blessed upon the Esh's. The abundant rains over the past weeks have brought forth life, providing food and nourishment for the animals as they prepare for winter storage.
